Penrith CC seeking Head Coach

The Penrith Cricket Club is seeking expressions of interest for the position of Club Coach for season 2021/22.

 

As the Head Coach, you will focus on the grade teams and work closely with the club’s specialist coaches and age team coaches.

 

The Penrith Cricket Club is an extremely strong club with a short, but proud history. We have enjoyed considerable success in the last few years in particular, culminating in winning the Club Championship in season 2015/16, winning the First Grade Limited Overs title in 2016/17 and the First Grade Belvedere cup in 2018/19.

 

The role will require you to develop a pre-season program, attend and co-ordinate mid-week training (2 days per week) and attend weekend First Grade games. The role will commence in early July 2021 and finish in early April at the conclusion of the season. Remuneration is negotiable depending on experience. The role is based at our home ground, Howell Oval, Penrith.

POSITION TITLE: Men’s Head Coach

REPORTS TO: Cricket Manager

EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Part-time (hours flex during the year / Avge 15-20 hours per week during the cricket season)

DIRECT REPORTS: Batting coach, Bowling Coach, Poidevin Gray coach, Green Shield coach

Primary Purpose of the Position: Lead the men’s coaching team to plan and implement a coaching program which facilitates excellence in team and individual preparation and performance.

Key Responsibilities

1. Planning and Administration

  • Coordinate and lead end of season and mid-season reviews with coaching team and Cricket Manager
  • Develop strategic plans and specialist coaching for high performing players
  • Liaise with Cricket NSW coaching staff as required, including pathway coaching staff
  • Provide recommendations to club Committee regarding opportunities for specialist coaching sessions.

2. Coaching

  • Develop and implement pre-season training program in conjunction with other coaches
  • Provide oversight to age team coaching staff (PGs and Green Shield)
  • Design and implement training program for in-season
  • Develop skill and tactical based programs in conjunction with PCC specialist coaches
  • Manage mid-week training programs and provide specialist coaching to players as required
  • Attend weekend First Grade games or support other grade teams as requested by Cricket Manager.

3. Communication & Liaison

  • Maintain open communication and effective relationships with other PCC coaching staff and Cricket Manager
  • Ensure a consistent player development philosophy based on CNSW Pathway program
  • Establish relationships with key relevant external stakeholders (CNSW Pathway coordinators/coaches, other Sydney Grade Club coaches, etc) through regular liaison and consultation

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential

  • At least 5 years coaching experience at grade level (as club or specialist coach)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Strong knowledge and network within the Sydney cricket community

Desirable

  • Level 3 cricket coaching accreditation (or international equivalent)
  • Technology skills to assist with player feedback and development

Remuneration

  • Dependent on experience and/or agreed number of hours
