Eighteen McDonald's Men's Premier Cricket teams remain in the race for the qualifying finals heading into a compelling last round of the First Grade Limited-Overs Cup on Saturday.

In a competition within a competition, clubs will be looking to nail down one of the eight play-off spots while also making their way up the Belvidere Cup standings.

Manly-Warringah, Randwick-Petersham and Sydney University top the one-day ladder on 20 points and should safely progress to the last eight.

The real dogfight begins for the last five positions, with up to 15 sides still in contention.

Parramatta round out the top eight on 13 points, just ahead of a cluster of clubs.

Mosman sit 18th on six points but can still make the cut – mathematically at least – if it beats St George with a bonus point and a host of other results go the right way.

Don’t think it's not possible.

Last season Manly leapt from 17th to seventh in the final round after beating UTS North Sydney by four runs and having a number of other games fall its way, albeit with some help from the weather.

"I didn't even look to see if we were a mathematical chance to be honest," Mosman captain Nathan Hinton said.

"I knew we were still a chance in the two-day comp and that's been our focus, so I am surprised to hear we're still alive in the one-day comp.

"It won’t really change how we approach Saturday's game. The main aim is to win it and the rest of it will look after itself."

Bankstown's meeting with Northern District at Bankstown Oval is the only clash involving two top eight teams, but all 10 games will have some bearing on finals places.

The qualifying finals will be held on February 8, with the four victorious teams moving into the semi-finals on February 14.

The final will be held on February 21.

Sydney Uni is the defending champion and favourite to go back-to-back.
