"Having a two-day Grade game in the lead-in to the Shield summer is fantastic," NSW coach Phil Jaques said.
"It's a chance for the boys to get some match practice and put back into their clubs.
"We want them to be available for their clubs at every opportunity. It gives the whole competition a lift and gives the players a chance to go back and do well for their clubs.
"They are very keen to play and I am very keen to see how they perform."
Asked what he expected of his Shield players returning to Premier Cricket, Jaques declared: "Big hundreds, big bags of wickets and consistent performances.
"The guys in the Shield team and those pushing to get into the team will be looking to put some numbers on the board.
"We want players who come back from Shield cricket to Premier cricket to perform.
"The expected standard is they put in some dominant performances."
